High speed Wi-Fi taking to the sky

High speed Wi-Fi is set to hit the skies along with trains and ships, according to recent plans revealed by the communications regulator Ofcom.

Passengers flying in British airspace or travelling on trains and ships will be able to use Wi-Fi up to 10 times the current speed, which will put it in line with home broadband speeds. Recent development in satellite technology means it is now possible for transportation to access high speed Wi-Fi, which is no doubt welcome news to those wanting to stay connected whilst travelling.

With many jobs now using emails and heavily reliant on communication via the internet, flying for a number of hours without access to Wi-Fi, can be stressful for many people. However, as a nation we are renowned for working long days and taking work away with us, so when enjoying a hard earned holiday be sure to make time to switch off and just enjoy soaking in the sun, technology free.

Anyone into their technology ought to check out our recent gadgets posts here and here.
