A recent study names Heathrow as the best family friendly airport in Europe, after heavily investing in new and improved facilities. Over the past 18 months the third busiest airport in the world, which welcomed close to 70 million travellers through its doors last year, has significantly improved its facilities for families, which includes the introduction of children play areas in each terminal. Following this investment, Heathrow has gone from being named the least family friendly airport in 2012, to the most family friendly in Europe.
The study which saw 35 families rate Europe’s top 20 airports on family facilities such as baby changing, security process, food offerings and entertainment. The UK’s second busiest airport London Gatwick is named the seventh most family friendly airport making the UK the only country other than Germany, to have more than one airport in the top 10. Zurich and Vienna are named joint second best airports for families and Dusseldorf is named third.
Heathrow has improved the airport experience for families by an unprecedented amount over the last 18 months and the results of this survey is testament to its investment. Travelling with young kids can be somewhat of a challenge, so it’s great to see that major airports are working hard to make it as easy and stress free as possible.
