Free Wi-Fi is a holiday must-have

Gone are the days when holidaymakers were cut off from the rest of the world, only making contact through the odd lowly postcard to friends and family left at home. Now it would seem, people cannot prise themselves away from technology, with constant updates of their holiday activities and messages sent to loved ones through social media sites.

A recent study has found that among the top grievances of regular travellers, is the lack of free Wi-Fi at hotels, with 51% stating that this commodity is crucial to the enjoyment of their holiday. Whether it’s posting holiday snaps to make our friends jealous, or keeping up to date with news, family or work; social media has dramatically altered the way people behave on holiday. In fact, according to a survey by Facebook into the habits of its users, travel is the most popular subject discussed on the social media channel.

Other top holiday peeves were unsurprisingly rude hotel staff with 69% of people surveyed saying this would be their most frustrating complaint. Arriving at your resort to find that your room is still being cleaned was not far behind.

Whether you can’t stay away from social media on your hols, or prefer to be cut off from the rest of the world, try booking your next holiday with On the Beach!
