How to double your annual leave in 2018

Now that Christmas is over for another year, chances are that you’re dreaming of your next beach holiday.  If you’re hoping to get away for that little bit longer in 2018, you’re in luck. With careful planning, you can almost double your annual leave allowance. 

Get 16 days off using just 8 days annual leave this Easter 

To enjoy an extra long Easter holiday, book time off between 26th-29th March and 3rd-6th April. You’ll end up with a huge 16 days off between 24th March and 8th April.  

How it works: There are two bank holidays over this period: Good Friday falls on 30th March and Easter Monday on 2nd April.  Combined with the weekends, using these 8 days as annual leave gives you a total of 16 days off. 

Total time off: 16 days 
Annual leave used: 8 days
Dates to book off: 26th-29th March, 3rd-6th April

Get 24 days off using just 14 days annual leave in May 

May is the perfect time to enjoy a lengthy beach break in the sun. Enjoy 24 days off using just 14 days annual leave by booking off 8th-25th May. This means you’ll have from 5th-29th May with no work. 

How it works: There are two bank holidays in May: 7th May and 28th May. Combined with the weekends in between, booking these 14 days of annual leave gives you a grand total of 24 days off to soak up the sun. 

Total time off: 24 days 
Annual leave used: 14 days
Dates to book off: 8th-25th May

Get 9 days off by using just 4 days annual leave in August  

Extend your summer by securing 9 days off to enjoy a family holiday in the sun, using just 4 days annual leave. Book 28th-31st August off to enjoy 9 days holiday between 25th July-2nd August. 

How it works: With a bank holiday falling on 27th August, booking the following 4 days off gives you a total of 9 days off (including the weekend either side). 

Total time off: 9 days 
Annual leave used: 4 days
Dates to book off: 28th-31st August

Get 16 days off by using just 7 days annual leave next Christmas 

Make your Christmas even merrier with 16 days off! Book 24th December, 27th-31st December and 2nd-4th January to secure 16 days off from 22nd December-7th January. 

How it works: Due to the 3 bank holidays falling over the Christmas period, this is a great time to enjoy some extra time off. Booking just 7 days off will give you a total of 16 work-free days. 

Total time off: 16 days 
Annual leave used: 7 days
Dates to book off: 24th, 27th-31st December, 2nd-4th January
