A recent survey has revealed that 20% of British holidaymakers go on a diet and more than a quarter start a new fitness plan before heading abroad on holiday, compared to just 10% of holidaymakers from France.
As a nation, it would seem we take getting ready for holidays very seriously, with one in five admitting they would postpone a holiday and 14% would even cancel their holiday completely if they didn’t feel ready. These all important preparations include, buying new beach outfits, getting hair cuts, waxing and even pre-tanning.
Despite all the effort put into preparing ourselves for a holiday, results show British ladies are still not as body confident as others. Just a third of admit to sunbathing topless and only one in five feeling happy uploading swimwear photos on social media sites, compared to 40% of Danes who hit the beach topless and happily share their bikini snaps online.
British men are also not as comfortable as other nations with only 2% willing to wear ‘Speedos’, compared to 22% of Brazilians and 21% of Germans.
Following the release of more and more TV programs flaunting toned and tanned bodies, as a nation the look good culture is increasingly growing. This combined with our love of social media sites and sharing our holiday snaps for all to see, means to many holidaymakers, it’s more important than ever to look as good as the places we are visiting.
