British boost for Spanish tourist industry

According to Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, the number of us travelling to Spain and its islands has risen by 3.4% compared to last year figures, resulting in British holidaymakers making up the largest population of overseas visitors.

So far this year, Spain has welcomed a record 34 million international tourists to its shores, enticing visitors with beaches, sun and sangria. Almost one in four international visitors to the country between January and the end of July this year, were from the UK.

The Balearics, along with mainland Spain, also saw an increase in visitors with more than two million hitting the beaches during July. This summer the sun kissed islands are attracting more holidaymakers than ever before from the UK, Germany, Scandanavia and Russia.

As a nation, we have always shown a love for Spain when it comes to choosing our holiday destination and this only appears to be growing stronger. Cheap flights available across the UK and guaranteed sunshine, makes Spain and its islands a popular place to visit and clearly all too tempting for many of us.
