It’s back! That’s right; the ninth series of the award winning, British sitcom, Benidorm, is back, seeing the return of some of the show’s much-loved characters. And what’s more, we’re proudly sponsoring the show this year!
The show focuses on the adventures of a group of British holidaymakers staying at the Solana Hotel in Benidorm and plays on stereotypes of both the Spanish town and the typical ‘Brits abroad’.
The programme is actually filmed at the 3* Sol Pelicanos Ocas, a popular hotel situated just 300m from the beach and boasting a range of bars and restaurants. Leisure facilities at the hotel include 3 pools, one of them a lagoon-style swimming pool with 3 Jacuzzis & swim-up bar!
The hotel stays open for filming during the summer, so get your timing right and you could get a front row seat while sipping your cocktail by the pool. You could even be hanging out with the Mateo and Lesley or quizzing against The Oracle…
But its famous TV show isn’t all that Benidorm has to offer… Being one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, Benidorm is catered towards tourist activities and a lively nightlife.
Despite gaining a reputation for loutish behaviour in the 80’s, Benidorm has become much calmer and a lot more family orientated in recent years; not that there isn’t enough all-night bars, clubs and world-renowned cabarets to keep you entertained.
There’s more to see and do on Benidorm holidays than practically anywhere else on Spain’s White Coast; whether going out to water parks and theme parks such as Aqualandia and Terra Mitica, or day trips around the subterranean caverns at Canelobre and the crystal-clear Algar waterfalls, where you can even take a dip!
