Beach Vs Pool

Soft, cooling breeze and sand beneath your toes; could the beach be any more relaxing? But, despite this, many people still opt for the poolside to top up their tans year after year. So why is this? Let’s way up the pros and cons of venturing to the beach and sticking to the pool…

Beach

Pros:

Better Views
No matter where you are, it’s pretty much a given that the views you will see at the beach will far out way those around the pool. Picturesque landscapes with beautiful mountain ranges, or the back drop of the hotel bar? No contest…

More to Do
Whether it’s sandcastles for the kids or water sports for the big kids, the beach has an undeniable range of activities in comparison to the pool and means that you’re never stuck for forms of entertainment.

Cons:

Distance
Unless you’ve chosen a hotel that directly overlooks the beach, it can sometimes be a bit of a trek to actually get there. Although most hotels offer shuttle buses to the nearest beaches, it can sometimes be an unwelcome effort, especially if the weather’s scorching!

Safety
As parents well know, keeping an eye on kids is difficult at the best of times, but on some of the larger beaches, it can prove tricky. Although arm bands are sufficient in a pool, the sea can be extremely dangerous, especially for young children.

Pool

Pool- Beach vs Pool

Pros:

Hotel Proximity
How many people have just got settled on the beach, only to realise they’ve forgotten not only the sun cream, but the money too? No problem if you’re at your hotel pool, simply nip back to your room and grab it.

Free Sunbeds
Most hotels won’t charge you any extra for using the sunbeds they have around the pool and most will even provide you with towels. Compare this to the beach, and the cost of hiring sunbeds every day is an added extra that most could do without.

Cons:

Sun Trap
As you’re directly next to the sea, you’ll often find that the beach provides a pleasant breeze. Most pools however, are usually surrounded by the walls of the hotel and therefore create a sun trap and, as a result of this, scorching heat. The beach may therefore be a lot more bearable, especially in the height of summer.

Sunbed Shortage
Although they’re free, you often have to get up extra early to ensure you and your family have sunbeds together, especially in peek season; whereas on the beach, there’s hardly ever a shortage.
