A perfect Mother’s Day getaway: Barcelona

A weekend break is the perfect way to spend time with family and friends, and with Mother’s Day (10th March) fast approaching it makes a perfect gift – for you and Mum!

Barcelona is the ultimate city break, full to the brim with culture, art and history. Not to mention the fantastic restaurants and boutique-style café’s. Gaudi is arguably Barcelona’s most famous artist and visiting his Casa Mila, Casa Batllo and Sagrada Familia buildings is a must. The city’s art is stunning and Picasso, like many artists got a lot of inspiration from this lively and vibrant city.

For those who enjoy walking, set aside a day to enjoy La Rambla, Barcelona’s busiest street! The mile-long stretch is home to most of the city’s colourful flower stalls, artists, human statues, fortune tellers, dancers and musicians – it could keep you busy for hours!

For a more peaceful way to spend the day, take a trip up to Monjuic, the highest spot of the city which overlooks the harbour – you’ll get some great photos! If though, like us, you are spoilt for choice, jump on a popular city tour bus and you can jump on and off anywhere you like!

Look out for more Mother’s Day destination ideas coming soon on the Beach Club blog.
