It took my partener and I a while to figure out where the resturants and nightlife were at in Santa Pola, and when we did find them, well it was pretty disapointing. We'r not the "party animal" type of people, but we do like a few drinks and somewhere decent to eat. There was not much to do in the day time in Santa Polo. Although there was a bus going into benidorm we didnt have much luck at the tourist info place as they did not speak very good english so we did not have any help when finding the bus. Luckily, although the hotel was a little out of the way it did have a bar that was rather lively, most nights we stayed there as we found more atmosphere there than the town. There were also nappys on the side of the road which was pretty off putting. But even though the destination wasnt the best we made the most of what we had (sun and pool) and just had a relaxing experience. We also learned a valid lesson...You get what you pay for.
Useful Tips:
Umm the little square in the town... I dont really know what it was about but it was pretty. oh and te dirty nappys on the side of the road.

CALA D'OR My husband, 6 year old daughter an myself all thoroughly enjoyed Cala D'Or as a perfect family desitination. Enough to do and see, a small but clean and perfectly formed beach - friendly people and a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of good shopping from your everyday tourist items to really pricey designer gear. We would all definitley go back.
Useful Tips:
As a couple with a six year old daughter we found this destination perfect! It is designed for families with enough fantastic restaurants to eat somewhere different every evening. No nightclubs to speak of would put off the younger crowd, but as a parent who wants their child (exhausted by being in the pool/sea all day)to get a good night sleet, means they can sit on their balcony in peace and quiet without drunken revelers potentially becoming a wake up call for the little ones! Our hotel had sufficient entertainment for the little ones, and something for the grown ups and I would recommend making sure your hotel has this. The beach is relavtively small but clean, I would recommend getting down their early to be near the sea front. The glass bottom boat was a good excursion that you can book next to the beach. The only downside (if you can call it that)is the time that it takes to travel from the airport but on the plus side of this you don't have planes flying over the resort.

We spent a week in Alicante in July 08 and had the best time. We had planned to travel around whilst we were there but ending up just enjoying the atmosphere of Alicante town. The beaches are really nice, sandy and warm sea. We hired sunbeds and parasole each day (only 11 Euros and well worth the money). Alicante at night is brilliant, loads of bars and restaurants including our favourite, Sel and Peppa - the best pizzas you could imagine. We also manage to consume quite a few of the fabulous cocktails that are served in the bars. Day time is brilliant aswell - lots of shops, bars and restaurants as well as plenty of old buildings and places to visit. We cant wait to go back
Useful Tips:
The quaint narrow streets that come alive at night with pavement bars and restaurants
