Relaxation

Comments:

Expensive, dusty and boring. Two beaches on whole island. If you like rocks and war memorials you'll be ok. Otherwise without doubt you will struggle to find things of any interest. Obviously it does have it's good points, some pretty harbours and some nice shopping areas, but would definitely not go again, even if you paid for us to! The worst holiday we've ever had!

Useful Tips:

Watch out for maniac drivers, there are a lot of them!, and the road signs are very misleading. If you like driving round in very long complete circles you will love this holiday.

Comments:

We have been going to Malta for years. It went through a scruffy period like most holiday destinations. The place looked its age! I don't think the Knights of St John would have recognised it. Since its entry into the EU, wow! How things changed, not all for the good as it is suffering from a weak Euro, but culturally, EU money has paid for renovations on a grand scale. Bravo, the innovations the island has made are briliant. This is the second time we have been for Christmas & New Year & the enthusiasm they show for visitors is second to none. The festive celebrations are on a par with any Spanish resort but with a quaint dignity about them. Summer time is even better with almost guaranteed wall to wall sunshine. The few beaches at the north of the island are clean & safe but as with anywhere you have to watch out for the jelly fish early in the season. New top attraction is the hop on hop off bus service which will take you to all the historic sites. MALTA FABULOSO

Useful Tips:

Take the red or bus hop on hop off bus service. For 15 euros you can go round all the island seeing the historic sites. Get on & off where you like & then catch the next bus later or stay on & do the round trip. (about 3 hours if you don't leave the bus.) There is an audio commentary giving historic information. When you have finished that there is a complimentary harbour cruise for 90 mins.Don't forget to try the local dish timpani. I call it spaggetti pie. The wines of Malta & Gozo are an acquired taste, but the local soft drink Kinnie is to die for goes brilliantly with Vodka or Gin!
