Love it or hate it Malta has something for everyone. The locals are very warming to the brits and we are always welcome where ever we are on the island. Many people think it is an trip for the older members of our community. Think again. There are lovely family friendly hotels who serve very good food. Malta is much better value for money than the Spanish Islands and the Euro goes much further. A wonderful beach cafe will give you a latte for one euro and a toasted sandwich for two euros! The myth is that there are no beaches on Malta and I have to tell you there are plenty of golden sands with nets accross bays to keep out anything unwanted while you swim. The little island of Gozo which is a short boat ride away offers a very quirky place to visit which when we went there was beautiful and lush. So nice in fact we are having a holiday on Gozo this year. Go seek out the a cafe in Valetta chill and enjoy
Useful Tips:
Valetta such a lovely city Gozo Popeye village Chillin on a rock next to the med

Comments:
Malta is a gorgeous Island and the people are really friendly! I'm not too much of a beachy person so the rocky seasides suited me down to the ground - be sure to take jelly shoes though - they are not the smoothist of rocks in places! There is planty to do for a weeks hol but not enough for 2 weeks so my advise is to keep it short and sweet! A lot of people tend to retire over there and alot of the sight seeing is not for the young at heart - more for the older generation I think although I found the extensive history of the Island quite awe inspiring! One word of Advise though, please pick your hotel very carefully, there are alot of very dodgy and not so pretty places to stay and some of the holiday makers we met overthere were not best pleased with the third world buildings, unservicable air conditioning and rancid food! Our hotel was a 4* however I would class as 1* (not the best I have stayed in by a long chalk). I very strongly reccommend 5* to enjoy the Maltese Experience!
Useful Tips:
Only get the bus if you are brave! Drivers are nutty! Only go in 5* accommodation - anything less will ruin your stay! Be aware that the entire water park is salt water! Take jelly shoes for rocky beaches! Take snorkles as this is a must do - but they are so expensive to buy over there! Do not attend time shares and there are plenty of them posing as prizes!

Comments:
Malta was a lovely country with very friendly people, but the down side was that some of the resorts were like building sites in the sun, especially Buggibba where we stayed. We also had a constant problem with timeshare touts, they were everywhere and pestered you everyday even if you had seen them the day before.
Useful Tips:
timeshare touts, cheap and reliable buses, lots of english eateries, eg macdonald's, pizza hut. plenty of engish shops including Debenham's!

Comments:
The Maltese people are the friendliest bunch. The hotel we stayed in was the Solana where the staff are welcoming and the food is great. Maltese embrace all cultures and are very helpful. All the signs are in English and everyone speaks English so it feels like home. There are a variety of activities on offer but you do have to seek them out. We did some horse riding, scuba diving and went on the harbour cruise from Valletta which I would thoroughly recommend. Much of the old architecture is stunning and there are an array of buildings of historical interest to visit. It is not really a beach holiday destination though there are some good ones.
Useful Tips:
Check out where shopping areas and supermarkets are located before you go. I was not intending to do shopping but those who love shopping might struggle to find places to do so.
