A great place to visit, very pretty and lots of things to do and see. Views across the islands make beautiful photographs, with superb sunsets a must-see! Local facilities are good, with enough to do to keep you occupied for a few days. The area is not particularly busy, making it nice for families to visit. Lots of places to eat - some more expensive than others, be careful! - but most with lovely views of the sea. Beaches are clean and well kept, perfect for families with young children. Some hotels have man-made beaches which are not as nice, but a trip to the "real beaches" are definitely recommended. The sea is pleasant for swimming and paddling, calm in most places. The weather in August was fabulous, plenty of sun cream needed! Overall a definite "yes" for this destination - we would go back.
Useful Tips:
Make sure you take a trip to the nearby port and harbour at Kos Town, a pretty place to visit for a nice day out, strolling around in the sun or going out on a boat ride. There are lots of lovely market stalls and shops with all the usual touristy things available, and the architecture is stunning, with ruins dotted around. Going further afield, the island of Kos is beautiful and deserves exploring. Organised trips are available, but more daring visitors may enjoy hiring a car, grabbing a map and hitting the road! Local people are very friendly and willing to point you in the right direction if you steer off the right track. The scenery is breathtaking, beaches gorgeous and architecture incredible. When will you go?

Two adults and 1 child went on this holiday. It was great. The hotel Blue Lagoon we stayed at was lovely, we spent alot of time around the large pool. The room was good could not fault the food. The only draw back was one of us had to get a sun by at 6.30am or you would not get one. The Germans were putting towels on beds then not using them until 4pm which was very unfair to others. Other than that the holiday was great and Kos town is lovely.
Useful Tips:
Getting sun beds.

I have been going to Kos for many years now. It is just like going home - I am remembered and have been treated with great kindness from the start. The beaches are safe and clean and ideal, for the most part, for young children with gentle shelving into the sea to many. Crystal clear waters make snorkelling a must! If you have never been before and have only a week to spend then the "must dos" are; Asclepieon, thought to be the first hospital in the world - the views from here are amazing; Paradise Beach in Kefalos; Mount Zia at sunset; both castles, one at the harbour and the other near Antimachia. One boat trip is essential, go on a 'three island tour' which includes Pserimos .... ahhhh. Hiring a car for a maximum of three days is a really good idea because in that time you could cover most of the main attractions and get to the best beaches. I always try to stay in Kos town or within walking distance if possible as it is obviously lively there in the evening.
Useful Tips:
Argonauts Restaurant on Averof St, owner George; Jumbos Restaurant in the centre by the Church run by James (Dimitri); Tam Tam Beach at Mastahari; Thermes hot springs; Kos Marina.

Comments:
Lovely little town. We were out of the town centre itself and enjoyed walking into the shops/eateries in the evening. Glorious sunshine with a gentle breeze which made the heat "liveable". Plenty of boat trips from the harbour, recommend the 3 island trip with a chance to snorkel
