Comments:
The town of Hurghada is not what I expected having been to Sharm the year before. Totally different, much smaller and less developed. Eating out is best done away from the town centre. The locals were great, very friendly. Recommend the Quad bike trek...awesome. Watch out for some very pushy Bedouin's on the camel rides. Gold and Silver good value. The hotels do not allow you take your own drinks and snacks to your room, they have guards at the doors. So you are forced to buy theirs....very very expensive. Hotel was a 4 star which equates to a 3 star elsewhere I guess. Room was simple and clean. Air con extra. Pool and facilites were excellent. Overall a good holiday, made better buy the trips away from the town.
Useful Tips:
Look out for Gold and Silver...excellent value. Dont expect good food in the Town centre. Trips into the desert on Quad Bikes...superb. Check your room has air con. Check the pool is big enough. Check the beach is either a private hotel beach and is big enough, or there is a public beach that is cleaned daily nearby.

Hurghada is a beautiful place alot of construction work is still going on but this just makes us even more eager to go back there and see it develop. Hurghada is quieter than sharm which we prefered. There is so much to do and buy! make sure you barter as the locals normally double the amount. Its great for jewelery. The locals do pester a little but just say no thanks and they leave you alone. I would recommend visiting the marina. hurghada has everything you need we would recomend it to anyone. ENJOY!!
Useful Tips:
The locals will pester you but just be polite and say no thanks or if you do wish to buy dont forget to barter otherwise you will end up paying more!

Comments:
Elgouna is like the french Riveria of Egypt. The weather all year is fabulous. In summer although tempratures reach an amaing 40oc, with what seemed an almost constant breeze off the sea or dessert it did not seem quite so hot. The town is very safe and as a woman I could walk around on my own. The locals are very friendly and love children, my daughter was constantly made a fuss off. Elgouna is more expensive than it's neighbouring larger town of Hurghada, but Hurghada is a taxi or bus trip away. It was quite nice though in Elgouna not to be hasseled whilst shopping or looking. Every evening there are different free entertainment events going on. At least two nights there are open air singing and dancing in the bar/restaurant area. This destination is not for the young who want to drink and party large, but for couples and family who wish to have a relaxing holiday. There are excursions to the valley of the kngs, cairo etc.
Useful Tips:
On mangroovey beach and buzza beach they have kite surfing for the young at heart. Snorkelling and diving are a big attraction. For younger children an air conditioned in door play area at the marina. an open air cinema open twice a week. horse riding, go karts. If you want a taste of Egypt then you can get onto an exursion to valley of the kings , Karnak (luxor) cairo. It's well worth going into Hurghada to experiene the hustle and bustle and try a hand at bartering. A taxi can be ordered to the titanic water park in Hurghada, this is on par with english prices, a fab day for the kids.
