Grand Oasis Marien is amazing you couldnt want for anything else. The pool is in two halfs both very large. There are plenty of sunbeds round the pools and plendy on the beach which is directly next to the hotel. If you love to sunbath the sunbeds on the beach are great as there was a lovely breeze to cool you down. There was a snack bar directly by the beach for day time snacks and drinks. the entertainment staff are briliant and always making you smile, there are things to do during the holiday e.g vollyball, water arobix, table tennis, yoga and many many more for all ages. My daughter was taken ill due to the heat the staff were excellent and really helpful and they left extra 2 bottles ofwater in my room after that There was plenty to do and the entertainment staff were very friendly even took my daughter to a night club and bought her safely back to me. Plendy of trips to go on bookable at the hotel. There were five restaurans all excellent with waiters who couldnt do enough.
Useful Tips:
Trips i recommend are the Outback Safari great way tosee the real Dominican. The sailing on a 53 foot catamaran was great as we wnt snorkling and swam with the tropicial fish and saw the corel that was really awesome. There were so many trips but they were expensive so we had to limit our self to two but are planning to go back as i want to go up in the cable car and also i want to see the waterfalls. The was a trip to dive with the dolphins but that was £250 each and i never took enough money.

The Dom Rep is a great value option for the Caribbean and really good for 1st time travellers. The flight is manageable and the beaches superb when you arrive - well worth the flight! We stayed at the Casa Marina Reef twice (June & Sept 2007) and had a great time. Although we only stayed for 1 week it was a great experience and I'm sure we'll visit the island again soon.
Useful Tips:
Find out about trips offered even if you choose not to go on them. Found out prices of cash bars as often they are not expensive. Make the most of all inclusive activities

Comments:
hotel was good didnt like puerto plata went out one day into town very scared from the looks of people and the town couldnt wait to get back to the complex would never go back again to the same place proberly try a different part of the dominican republic.
Useful Tips:
be very wary about going out of the complex on your own make sure you pick somthing that as alot of entertainment day/night. dont pick the rainy season take plenty of money with you as the trips are very expensive but alot of fun. last have all just enjoy yourselves as much as you can.

Comments:
From the moment you arrive in the domincan republic the first thing you will notice is the people they are lovely, friendly people and they are always there to help u. They love to come and talk you as they are really interested in us. We went into the city one day and it was a magnificant adventure we went down on to the promanede and mixed withe locals, we were amazed by the people they treated us like we were a local which was nice cos it gave us safe peice of mind.
Useful Tips:
Go in to the city and sample the local food in the little restaurants along the promande, Try a resturant called Jean Pierres it has one of the best menus ever, and they are so cheap. Walk up to the old castle and see the hisory and mingle with the locals.
