Comments:

I found this island lived up to all the positive reviews I'd come across before and would highly recommend Caleta de Fuste, primarily because it has a nice clean fun beach with activities for children (volleyball, football) and on Friday morning a fab beach party for the kiddies with foam cannons - inflatable football pitch - free T-shirts, drinks and candy. The promenade by the beach is palm lined and pretty and further down past the harbour is a rocky area where chipmunks live. They are very tame and like to be fed monkey nuts by hand in their shells. Great fun for the little ones. The standard of hotels is very good, especially those directly on the beach or anywhere along the promenade. Restaurants are good value and diverse and lots of good pubs in the various shopping areas and the main strip. We have a seven year old boy and will be returning this summer without a doubt as it suits us jest perfectly.

Useful Tips:

Atlantico Shopping Centre for fabulous shoes and very reasonable Eurospar. Great value taxi which are cheap and efficient.

Comments:

We wanted a nice relaxing sun holiday, and certainly found this in Caleta de Fuste. The resort was perfect for couples, with lots of nice restaurants in the resort centre and a couple of relaxed bars for a late night drink. The beach at Caleta de Fuste wasn't fantastic, so its well worth taking a day trip to Jandia to see the Caribbean style beaches there. The weather was glorious all week, and the resort was only a short journey from the airport. We had a private transfer from the airport, which was worth every penny.

Useful Tips:

Like most resorts, there are charges for the sun beds and parasols on the beach, so make sure you work that into your budgets. Eating out isn't too expensive, and I would highly recommend trying some of the traditional Canarian food. If you have time, its worth a trip to the Aloe Vera factory (about half way between Caleta de Fuste and Jandia); here they grow the Aloe Vera plants and process them into a range of health and beauty products. The Aloe Vera gel is perfect if you are suffering from sunburn. You can also buy the plants (which you can get back to the UK).
