We booked late and were asking for a relaxing holiday but with a choice of nightlife if we wanted. The on the beach rep came up with the Plazamar in santa ponsa. What a great choice the appartments are basic but clean and functionable, The maid called every day but thursday. The in house entertainer "Adele" was so funny and knowledgable. There was also a variety of entertainment each night. The facilities include a good sized pool, with plenty of space to sunbathe, there is a well stocked bar which also sells a selection of meals, the omlettes and lasagna were very tasty. So it was pretty full but quiet which was what we wanted. Most nights we would stroll into the busy area, 5 minute walk, and sample local food, try Fat Sam's its awesome, and drink.... ;-) It has a great beach. All the people we met were friendly and in no way pushy. Would deffo go again....
Useful Tips:
Fat Sam's for the beautiful food and charming staff. Loads of local cafes selling traditional well made pealla. Estrella beer is not good, I went back to Magnas.... :-) Loads of Irish themed bars on the main strip, beaware the younger generation tended to get a little drunk and we did see some scuffles but then it was 5 in the morning.... The glass bottom boat trip, go for the two hour slot, its great as they stop and let you swim with the fish. The 5 hour included food, but it did not look the most hygenic of kitchens... Loads of cash points. The Plazamar was a very good value well thought out venue, well recommended

Comments:
Santa Ponsa really needs a bit of an upgrade as it is beginning to look a little tired. Most of the nightlife is located along a single street and it's all much of a muchness really. Not a huge amount to do around the place, and you get the impression it's a bit of a poor relation to nearby Magaluff. Indeed, one Friday night we walked along around 1130 pm and all bar that one street was more or less closed! It's attractive, the beachfront with it's wild parrots is interesting, and clean, though the storm drain which cuts through the area (a bridge takes you over it) really can stink at night the further inland you go.
Useful Tips:
Check out the north of the island, Mallorca is so much more than just sun, sea and sand. Get away from the hustle and bustle and you'll find a world so far removed from the norm you'd think it was another planet. If you are going to stay around Santa Ponsa, early evening is quietest before the clubs open. Mrs Murphy's Kitchen was always busy but it was because of the quality of the food, highly recommended by all. There's a sizeable Irish area full of Irish pubs, but all welcoming. Unlike in Palma, you're not constantly hassled by sellers or shop owners, it's a pleasant change to be able to shop without the pressure.

Comments:
Lovely place to stay the weather was amazing as always in Mallorca, Santa Ponsa seemed to be more a home for the local rich as the surrounding houses were beautiful and amazing some where I would like to live. Even though the rich live there you dont have to be rich to stay there its a nice quiet place with a lovely beach and sea views and not more expensive than any other place in Mallorca.
Useful Tips:
The beach was lovely and clean and one thing I noticed was the streets are very clean, there is something for every one with bars, restaurants and night clubs but not a crazy place like Magaluf. I would buy your water from local super markets for the beach as the bottles from the local beach huts were very expensive. You can see the stunning Parakeet's under the tree's on the beach too which are lovely to watch.
