In a word 'wow'! If you are looking for a traditional holiday away from the built up tourist areas greece is known for this is the place to go! I have travelled all over Greece and this has to be my favourite destination. Lovely beaches too....
Useful Tips:
Be careful when you book that you are staying in Lindos Town itself as a few hotels are situated a few miles out in another bay which means you can not experience the joys the town has to offer on your doorstep!

A gorgeous place, freindly people, lovely views and most importantly great weather! This is the quieter side of the island, but take a taxi round to Faliraki for some great days out. Beaches on this side are pebbled, faliraki side are sandy.
Useful Tips:
try out the beach front bars, all have their own pool and if u buy a drink at their bar, then u can use their pool for as long as u like. Great solution to people that like the beach and people that prefer the pool and bars.

I have been visisting Rhodes Island every year for the last 15 years. It is a beautiful Island and the people that live on the island are very friendly. You must visit Rhodes town during the day to visit the old town and in the evening as the evening lights make the town magical. Valley of the butterflies, Seven springs and the enormous cross at filarimos are all nice places to see. Faliraki's night life is fun fun fun, not only in the main club and bar street but there are some lovely restaurants in the surrounding streets, like Manolis' Peter's, The Alabama Bar and Nectar where you will get a very nice welcome from the owners. Some of the places I would recommend to stay in Faliraki are Rodos Sun, The Old Windmill and Sun Maris. I hope whoever visits this island will have a great holiday
Useful Tips:
Beautiful island, very sincere people and lovely food

We had a great stay in Rhodes Town. Our hotel was lovely, the staff were pleasant, the food was good, the location was excellent. We were very close to the Old Town, within walking distance, so it was lovely to experience both the old and the new sites of Rhodes Town. Local bars and restaurants were very nice too.
Useful Tips:
The Old Town is very beautiful, definitely worth a visit.

A superb holiday destination, beautiful uninterrupted sunshine from May to October. This island has so much to offer for everyone of all ages. Rhodes Town is an ideal base with a nice blend of the old and the new, beach and cosmopolitan life, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and nightlife. Step back in time to the medieval walled city of the Old Town, take in the history, stroll through the cobbled streets, pick up a bargain in the jewellery shops, find leather and lace in abundance, or just sit and watch the world go by. From Rhodes Town you can travel down the windy west side of the island to experience the shingle beaches, fresh fish tavernas of Trianda and the excellent wind surfing. Alternatively, the sheltered east side of the island offers gentle shelving sandy beaches and resorts of Kalithea spa, lively Faliraki & The Water Park, and historic Lindos. Mandraki harbour is great for an evening stroll and where a multitude of boat trips go from. Rhodes...holiday perfection!!
Useful Tips:
Corner Palace restaurant, Rhodes Town - Great food in a family restaurant, terrific steaks! Lindos a must for a day and boat trip to island of Simi. Buses offer best value, ask for taxi price BEFORE you get in. WARNING: Don't order fish in any Old Town restaurant- the balcony view might look appealing, but it is the most likely place to get ripped off. Prices are not fixed in menu.

The most amazing holiday I have ever had.We stayed at the Pefkos Bay Studios located right on the beach, Food was Fantastic, Clean room the Pool was great and sunbeds were free and everyone was so friendly, after working non stop for a year it was so easy to unwind in this beautiful location. It was only a 10mins walk away from Pefkos centre where they cater for everyone whether you are on a single couple or on a family holiday. Car hire was cheap, Lindos only a 10min drive away highly recomended. I will always remember Rhodes as my Favourite destination as my Boyfriend proposed to me and we will be getting married out there later this year.
Useful Tips:
The SUN take plenty of suncream it gets hot hot hot Hire a car and go west to Embona where they make the wine, you can travel around the whole Island in a day so go for it you don't know what you are missing

Comments:
Rhodes is one of my favourite Greek Islands and Rhodes Town is one of my favourite destinations. To me the town has everything that I want because I use it as a base. By day I use the local bus sevice to take me around the Island and visiting all the resorts, and then I have the nightlife of Rhodes town to look forward to later. The only thing that I can say about Rhodes Old town is simply stunning, the old winding streets that bring you lovely shops and bars are magic. A visit to Rhodes is not complete without seeing Lindos and Symi, and even Faliraki if you want a laugh(it does have a nice beach though). Would I recommend Rhodes and Rhodes town? What do you think?
Useful Tips:
The Dearer prices for food and drinks in the bottom part of Old Rhodes town because price are inflated for the cruise ship tourists, go further into the town and the prices tend to come down.

Comments:
Rhodes is a fabulous island, I fell in love with it 11 years ago when i went on holiday and decided to stay and work for 6 months! I went last May 09 to get married at St Paul's Chapel in Lindos organising the whole thing from the UK. I booked all the flights seperatley and arranged accomodation for people across the island. I have returned to the island many times in the last 11 years staying mainly in Rhodes Town, Faliraki, Ixia or Lindos. When going to Rhodes, i would advise hiring a car if you can or getting familiar with the local buses. Lindos is a great place, typically Greek and a UNESCO world heritage site. A trip to Lindos is an essential. Rhodes Old Town is also a great place, a medieval city full of history and charm. Near by is the harbour where you will see cruise ships calling by for the day. Give Faliraki a go, it is a great family holiday destination and has shaken off its image from the past. Rhodes is fab- give it a go and make your own mind up!
Useful Tips:
Taxi's from the airport are set fares and you will never get ripped off in Rhodes as they are monitored closely. Most destinations in Rhodes are a reasonable taxi journey away from the Airport, especially Ixia, Rhodes Town, Faliraki, Trianda.
