The climate in Sharm el Sheikh is hot and dry, with sizzling summers peaking at around 45ºC and winters generally averaging in the 20s.
During the summer months of June and July the sun stays out for a staggering thirteen hours per day and isn't for the light hearted. As Sharm el Sheikh is essentially in the dessert, the average rain fall from June until September is an average of 0mm, so your chances of being hit by rain is practically zero! During the winter months however, the sun levels reduce slightly to around eight or nine hours per day and the chance of rain is increased to approximately one day in each month.
At both the beginning and towards the end of the season there are increased chances of sandstorms.

However you should keep in mind that the restaurants in Old Sharm do not sell alcohol although you can take your own with you.
In Na�ama Bay you will find the popular Little Buddha sushi restaurant and the Tandoori Indian restaurant at the Camel Hotel which offers good value delicious food and both have a great atmosphere. The Camel Bar allows you to smoke traditional shisha pipes and will serve alcohol at the same time, which is unusual as most shisha cafes do not serve alcohol.
Other popular dining spots include the Taj Mahal restaurant at the Baron resort in Sharks Bay, which serves Lebanese and Middle Eastern mezze and offers a fantastic Egyptian floor show every night.

Sharm el Sheikh is home to many shops, bazaars and shopping centres. The majority of shops in Sharm el Sheikh sell either jewellery, clothing, perfumes or gifts/souvenirs. Sharm is famous for producing jewellery, leather goods, painted papyruses and rugs.
Expect to haggle when shopping in Sharm el Sheikh, it is all part of the experience and the shop owners will be shocked if you don�t try to negotiate. Be careful while walking around Sharm el Sheikh, the shop owners will try their best to tempt you into their store and will try all kinds of tricks such as to sign their guest book, help them write a note in English, and once you are inside you will find it difficult to say no.
You will find that most shops in Sharm open between Monday and Thursday and Saturday and Sunday, however in the low season, some do not open Sundays. During summer, the shop hours are reduced with many taking a siesta in the afternoon and then reopening to stay open until it gets dark.
The majority of shops and shopping centres are based in Na�ama Bay where you will find an assortment of shops offering everything you will need to buy. Sharm Old Market is great for hunting out some bargains, but if you want real value for money you shouldgo south-west to the small town of Dahab.
