Comments:
One of the best places I have been. The people are wonderful. It is unbelievable that they are so friendly and helpful when they are so poor. Cost Rica had better scenery with Volcanoes and Rain Forests but Cuba has a wonderful culture and feels so safe. I like being able to walk around a city or town, away from the tourists, take photos and feel perfectly safe. You just need to take the usual common sense precautions as there will always be pick-pockets etc anywhere in the world. Serious crime is so rare though.
Useful Tips:
Visit the towns / cities. Painting and wood carvings are great value. Tips are appreciated and expected at public conveniences etc. A small coin is fine but I like to give bigger tips at the hotel, to drivers etc. A peso ($1 roughly. Less than £1)makes a big difference when you only earn £30 to £40 a month. Take a trip out to the countryside and meet locals and farmers. If you go to Havana make sure you go to the club Tropicana. It is a wonderful night out, as good as the West End.

Glorious weather, beautiful beaches, fantasic culture seeped in history and contraversy. The hotel and food was absolutely lovely, all three children tucked into something different everyday and they never went hungry.
Useful Tips:

Well what can I say the beach, hotel and people are fantastic. The beaches are free from hawkers which makes a real difference as I hate to be hasseld. The sea was crystal clear with some fantastic fish swimming by the shore. The hotels / tour operators offer some fantastic trips. We went on an over night to swim with dolphins and take in some real culture of Cuba. This is an absoulte must as you get to see the real cuba and how people live. Cayo Coco's are purpose built for tourism however you can easliy get cuban culture by visiting Havana or Cienfuegos. Cienfuegos is a lovely place with some pretty impressive buildings. Overall a fantastic holiday with either lots to see and do or for just relaxing by the beach and pool.
Useful Tips:
Going to swim with the dolphins are a must

With the ever changing world situation and the USA changing its world policies there has never been and will never be again a better time to visit Cuba. Upon our return from our first visit Castro stood down officially ... no it wasn't anything I said (I think)......... but we knew then that we had to go back so earlier this year we did. We were not disappointed. The Cuban people are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Although there is poverty in Cuba there in no misery, which makes them a very warm and welcoming, people. But changes are afoot with the closing of Guantanamo and Obama pledging to make it easier for US citizens to travel to Cuba the inevitable change that this will bring is on the horizon. If you want to see the real Cuba then now is the time. We are planning to return next year for the Havana Cigar Festival at the end of February and to be frank personally I just can't wait.
Useful Tips:
Keep an eye out for the pre 1960 cars. You can't miss them and some are in showroom condition. Take a ride in one (yes some are taxis). The Cigars are legendary and if you are like me once you've tried one you'll be hooked.
