Airlines to provide better Wi-Fi

January 27, 2014 9:22 am Published by 1 Comment

Due to a decision made by Ofcom, it has been announced that transport operators, including airlines, will have to provide much faster broadband for its passengers.

This means that anyone travelling for business won’t be affected by poor or no wireless connections. It also means that boredom on long haul flights may be somewhat eased with more sufficient access to the internet. This will come as welcome news to mums who struggle keeping the kids occupied during flights (and big kids who struggle to keep themselves occupied).

The introduction of the satellite-based technology called ‘earth stations’, allows for up to ten times faster broadband than currently available – good news for regular travellers.

The technology should be up and running this year, so try booking your next holiday with On the Beach and test out the new super speedy broadband!
